Arbor Day Celebration

Arbor Day is a nationally-celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care.  Although many states celebrate Arbor Day on the last Friday in April, Baton Rouge Green celebrates Arbor Day each year on the third Friday in January (date decided by the state legislature), as our optimum season for tree planting in Louisiana ends the end of March. Mayor Melvin “Kip” Holden is invited to be the guest speaker for the City's Arbor Day luncheon and major supporters of Baton Rouge Green’s programs and projects are recognized.
